A competition entry for the design of an extension to the University of Iceland’s oldest student dormitory, located in the heart of Reykjavík’s city center. The two level U-shaped extension, together with the old dormitory building, encircles a central green courtyard. All dorm rooms are facing the surrounding city while common areas are oriented towards the central garden, allowing visual connection between all shared areas such as the kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, etc. 

The proposed building materials are mainly prefabricated cross-laminated timber elements, erected on a concrete base, clad with zinc-panels and topped with a green roof.
